Last week, Deron Williams received an incredible opportunity afforded to few, and made the most of it.

After months practicing his golf swing, D-Will participated in the annual Crewe Cup at Pebble Beach in Monterey, California. The Crewe Cup is one of the most prestigious and exclusive match play golf events in the world, and its goal is to raise money and awareness for charities that help children.

The event was created to bring together leaders of industry, for competitive sport with a philanthropic mission, and it is quite an exclusive opportunity. Participation in the tournament is by invitation only, and Deron was given the opportunity to play in it this year, along with other basketball legends such as Danny Ainge, Ray Allen and Jason Kidd.

Past champions of this event include PGA Tour professional Tony Finau, as well as other great athletes such as Julius Erving, Jerry Rice and Ozzie Smith.

Now, D-Will can add his name to that list after he and his team captured the Crewe Cup by a score of 21.5 to 20.5.

After Deron won his final match by a score of 5&4, Kidd secured the win for their team with a clutch putt on the 18th green at Pebble Beach. The putt capped off a great event and a great month for Kidd, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame earlier in September.

“What an incredible week. This is by far the best event I have been apart of. We had a great leader who lead us to victory. Can’t say enough about my teammates. I have to say this has been an incredible month for me. Can’t beat those two trophies,” Kidd said.

Not many people get the chance to play in the Crewe Cup, and to compete at Pebble Beach and win makes it all the more special as it is one of the most prestigious and most picturesque courses in all of golf.

All in all, this was a great event for a great cause, and it was a great opportunity for Deron to connect with some great friends and great people.

And now D-Will is a part of the exclusive Crewe Cup Champions Club.
