Deron Williams talked to former NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz on the latest episode of his podcast, Ballers and Brawlers.

Deron talked to Victor about the reality they are now both living, their first year not playing basketball and football in a long time. Deron noted he has more time for his kids and can do other activities now like skiing, and asked Victor how the transition has been for him. Victor had this to say:

“It’s funny, it has been that same thing. You play one sport since you’re born pretty much, I’ve been playing football since I was 10 years old, and then 21 years later you’re like ‘Wow, what do I do? I’ve played this sport for so long, what happens now?’ But the free time has been great. I have my daughter and watching her grow and doing other things that are hobbies – I have more time for that now. So on the flip side you like the time, but there are definitely moments where you miss the game and want to be out there.”

Victor also gave his take on the Conference Championship games coming up this weekend.

“I think it makes for a great time in the NFL where these teams from these cities that we’re not used to being in these positions, aside from the New England Patriots, are here. It’s a time for their fan bases to be alive and wake up again so the NFL loves that these teams are here.”

Later in the podcast, they debate what really is a catch in the NFL these days?!
